49 year-old John Reinerston appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Tuesday charged with his third count of partner or family member assault, a felony.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Amber Henning asked Judge Marie Anderson for $25,000 bail.

"The defendant is alleged to have pushed his girlfriend to the floor and grabbed her by the throat," Henning said. "The defendant has at least three prior convictions of partner or family member assault, and is a registered violent offender and had an MSP (Montana State Prison) sentence previously. In addition to the standard conditions, we're also asking for GPS monitoring, drug testing and no contact with the victim."

Reinerston appeared via video from the Missoula County Jail, and during his appearance, the woman who was the alleged victim was in the courtroom and asked Judge Anderson not to enforce the no-contact order.

Judge Anderson set bail at $25,000, and ordered Reinerston to appear again on March 7.
