I made a big deal about having cable when I finally had it installed after moving to Missoula. Even then, however, I had no idea what I would find in any of the gajillion channels I receive at Casa de Barrett.

As I was guide-surfing, however, I struck gold.

"Transformers." 30 minutes. In blue, essentially meaning "for kids."

It may as well have been in bright red, denoting "one of the greatest shows in the history of history."

If you haven't gathered by now, I'm a bit of a geek. Transformers was, hands down, my favorite cartoon growing up.

I sent a text to my girl back in Portland. "Transformers is on. No, not the movies. The actual 80's cartoon."

Her response seemed excited. I'm not certain if she was genuinely surprised at my magnificent find, or simply patronizing her overgrown man-child of a fiance.

Regardless, I watched Transformers for the first time in years last night, and loved it. I have all of the upcoming episodes I could find set to record on the DVR.

Then G.I. Joe came on right afterward. I set all of those to record, too.

I know what I'll be doing Saturday morning. Now I just need to make a run for some Cookie Crisp cereal, and it'll be 1987 again.

And there's certainly nothing wrong with that.
