A Horseshoe And Car Were Allegedly Used As Weapons In Violent Crimes This Week In Missoula

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office had to deal with over 15 cases this past week. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst says a third of the crimes were violent in nature.

“We had five violent crimes,” said Pabst. “Three of them involved partner or family members. One was an assault with a weapon. The alleged weapon was a horseshoe, which obviously can cause considerable damage. There was an assault with a weapon at the mall in which the defendant allegedly hit a security guard with a car.”

Pabst says her office also dealt with a sexual assault incident where an individual allegedly hassled and groped a teenager. There was a stack of non-violent crimes that made the list as well.

“There were three endangerment crimes,” Pabst said. “One involved unlawful transactions with children, which is formerly known as contributing to a minor or contributing to the delinquency to a minor. There were two felony DUIs, two theft cases, four meth cases and a failure to register.”

Pabst mentioned that she has notice a trend of increased crime after a sustained period of bad weather. She says people seem to become more and more agitated, which can result in a high number of violent crimes.
