While we wait for The Roxy to officially open their outdoor screening space for the summer, it looks like we may have another movie-viewing option if you're willing to make the drive to Hamilton.

Pharaohplex Cinemas, a Hamilton-based movie theater, has announced their intention to open up a new drive-in theater in June. The theater itself plans to reopen on May 22nd, screening older films like the Hunger Games and Lord of the Rings movies for only three dollars a ticket. But the drive-in represents an alternative for the moviegoer who doesn't feel comfortable sitting in a public, enclosed space just yet.

The drive-in will have "family fun night" during the summer and they describe it as a state-of-the-art digital experience on their website. They also say that more updates will come soon, likely including an opening date and some of the movies they'll be showing.

Personally, I think this is a great idea - I'm someone who loves to go to the movies and would typically be at the theater at least once a week, so these last couple of months have been pretty rough. Hopefully, between the work that Pharaohplex in Hamilton and the Roxy in Missoula are doing, we can keep the theatrical experience alive in western Montana.
