Jaw Dropping Sale Price for “A River Runs Through It” Montana Property
The iconic 1992 movie "A River Runs Through It" is one of the most recognizable film names associated with Montana and its fly fishing mystique.
Whether you've seen the movie or not, as Montanans, you feel like you have. And the property where many of the scenes were filmed showing off the state's natural splendor has recently sold for a reported record Montana real estate price! That's according to Dan Zazworsky at flylordsmag.com.
The Climbing Arrow Ranch in western Montana might not be a familiar name to many, but to fans of “A River Runs Through It” the landscape, buildings and surrounding vistas are very recognizable. The 80,000-acre ranch was originally owned by the Anderson family who stewarded the land for over 60 years since they purchased it in 1959, raising cattle and generations of their family on the property.
Recently the property was sold by descendants of the Anderson family to a private buyer for a whopping $130 million!
Not only is the property home to filming locations from “A River Runs Through It“, but it also boasts some incredible fly fishing opportunities within its borders. According to the Swan Land Company listing the property: "Teeming with German browns, cutthroat and rainbow trout, fly fishing on the Climbing Arrow is legendary. The pristine trout waters of the North Fork, Middle Fork, and the main channel of Sixteen Mile Creek serpentine through...for over 17 miles, and nearly 3.5 miles of the acclaimed Madison River form the western edge of the Valley Unit, creating a private fishing experience like no other in Montana.”
No buyers' names or future plans for the property were given.
