You may have always wanted to own your very own restaurant in Missoula. Well, here is your chance. Plus, there’s a history of over forty (40) years behind it. Plus, some great gyros.

Acropolis Gyros, one of Missoula’s longest-running favorite restaurants, is back up for sale.

Acropolis Gyros has been located at 117 West South Avenue and has been serving Greek cuisine since 1984. It is almost considered a Missoula landmark due to its length of operation.

Personally, I’ve always loved this place.

A Missoula Favorite Since My College Days

When I’m getting a hankering for a great gyro, I usually think of Acropolis Gyros. And don't even get me started on their Greek salad.

In college at the University of Montana, it was never too far from campus to go down to South Avenue to satisfy that hankering. Sometimes all you want is a good gyro. That’s what Acropolis Gyros has provided for decades.

It’s impressive that a restaurant can stay open for more than 40 years while so much changes in the city of Missoula.

How Much Does It Cost to Own Acropolis Gyros?

According to the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services’ listing information, Acropolis Gyros’ asking price is now at $125,000.

Acropolis Gyros is described as a “turn-key” business purchase. This means if someone purchases the restaurant, they’ll be taking ownership of an already established restaurant as opposed to starting from scratch.

With the business purchase comes the Acropolis Gyros name, website, social media accounts, point-of-sale equipment, and operational procedures. The listing does mention that there is a transferable lease involved.

An important note regarding property ownership for this business purchase: The property or building itself is not part of the sale. What you’re buying is the business known as Acropolis Gyros, not the land or buildings where you’d operate under it.

Another Change of Ownership for a Missoula Classic

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Acropolis Gyros has been put up for sale recently.

Back in 2024, there were worries that Acropolis Gyros would shut down completely because no buyer had been identified after previously being put up for sale. Fortunately for Missoulians who enjoyed eating at Acropolis Gyros, Patrick and Heather Carls purchased the business and reopened it in February 2025.

Less than two years later, this beloved Missoula institution is once again seeking a new owner. Hopefully, the person who buys this restaurant will continue to provide delicious Greek food to the people of Missoula.

There are several reasons why I like seeing old restaurants get some "new blood" in Missoula. However, there is certainly something special about those places that have fed us for decades. Which is why I fear losing one of my personal favorite places to eat in Missoula (a place that serves excellent gyros and Greek salads).

Would you buy one of your favorite Missoula restaurants if given the opportunity?
