Montana’s minimum wage is set to rise by a full dime in 2017. Montana Labor Standards Bureau Chief Pam McDaniel explains why.

"Minimum wage is tied to the CPI and was always determined between August of one year to the end of August of the next year," said McDaniel. "With that increase, it is going to be raised come January 1st to $8.15."

The CPI or Consumer Price Index has stayed relatively flat for the past two years and there has been no change in Montana’s Minimum Wage during that time. The Minimum wage has been pegged at $8.05.
