These are the 18 Most Shocking Deaths in Video Games. MAJOR SPOILERS ahead.
Platinum’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan Looks Radical
The worst-kept video game secret of 2016 has finally been officially announced. Platinum Games and Activision are teaming with Nickelodeon for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game, and one with a distinct co-op bent, too. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan will see the fab four tackle perennial villains Shredder and his Foot Clan across the city they all call home. Unlike Platinum's previous '80s cartoon-turned-action game Transformers Devastation, TMNT: MiM won't have an art style that's ripped straight from the animation archives. Instead, it looks like Platinum is following the art style of IDW Publishing's current TMNT artist, Mateus Santolouco.
Platinum's got a strong history of developing exciting action games, though there have been a few misses in the company's expanding catalog. After the success of Transformers Devastation, it's easy to get caught up in hoping TMNT will be just as solid. The gameplay shown off in the trailer looks good in motion, but without being able to play it ourselves. Let's not get hung up on the possibilities of disappointment just yet though because this game is going to have Armaggon, and that's just cool enough for us right now.
The Complete New ‘Star Wars’ Canon Timeline [Infographic]
Three years ago, Disney bought Lucasfilm and a number of its properties for $4 billion. With that deal came the right to produce new movies, books, comics, games and toys based on the existing Star Wars universe. However, since Lucasfilm had let the universe of Star Wars expand so widely since the conclusion of the original trilogy in 1983, Disney decided it was best to wipe the slate mostly clean. The Mouse House greatly streamlined the Star Wars galaxy, introducing a new and improved canon for a new age.
This new canon would still keep much of what made Star Wars so endearing to a large number of older fans, but it would also open the previously impregnable fortress of the expanded universe for new fans by practically dismissing all of it. In the past three years, Disney has been busy filling the void vacated by the expanded universe. To prepare for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens we've carefully curated a catalog of Star Wars' new history. This is the new Star Wars canon timeline.
Fallout 4 Review (Xbox One)
War never changes, but the console and gaming landscape has dramatically over the last seven years. In the time since Fallout 3's release, open-world games have evolved quite a bit thanks to that game's success. New platforms have also emerged, giving developers the resources to make larger, more detailed worlds for players to explore, while adding in the additional graphical benefits new hardware provides. While the rest of the world was moving on at an incredible pace, Bethesda was taking its time with Fallout 4. A proper fourth entry in the series needed to be bigger and better than before, but the wait was excruciating for fans. Though the franchise hasn't come quite as far in the last seven years as we'd hoped, but Fallout 4 is still an impressive piece of work that's not to be missed.
