Over the weekend I decided I needed to do some holiday cleaning. I’m having a Christmas party at my house and I wanted to make sure my friends didn’t think that I’m a slob (I’m actually a closet slob.) Anyway, I was up until 2 a.m. Saturday tearing through my walk in closet. Not only can I see the floor again, but I feel better knowing that all the clothes that no longer fit, or I just don’t wear on a regular basis, can be put to good use.

After rummaging through my closet, I loaded up about 12 grocery bags full of clothing, coats, jackets, jeans, sweaters, shirts, boots and tennis shoes into my back seat. The next decision was where to drop them off.

Bob Ward & Sons is holding a great drive this year. It’s called “Share the Warmth.” You can make your donation at one of their local stores. On top of the warm, fuzzy feeling you’ll get after you donate, Bob Ward & Sons will give you a 10 percent off coupon for apparel and footwear at the store. They are collecting donations until December 31, 2013. Locally, the beneficiaries will be Missoula YWCA, Hamilton SAFE and Ravalli Head Start.

After I dropped off my bags, I felt a relief, knowing the clothes went to those that really need them... And the added bonus, I can now see my closet floor! (With my closet organized, it's so much easier getting ready in the morning!)

If you don't think you'll ever get around to doing this, make a pact with one of your friends. Invite them over for motivation. They can even help you decide what to keep and what to give to this great charity. You never know what your warm coat, or furry boots could mean to someone that really needs them.
