Bottle Rock Organizer: Foo Fighters May Play Only One North American Show in 2017, Plan Work on New Album
Foo Fighters have been spending the last month or so teasing fans with a return to the stage this year, first signing on for multiple festivals in Europe and most recently announcing their first U.S. date of 2017 headlining the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa Valley, Calif. this coming May. But what does this mean for the rest of the band's 2017?
Latitude 38 Entertainment CEO Dave Graham told the Napa Valley Register about the Bottle Rock relationship with the Foo Fighters members and managed to also drop a little extra info on what the band's plans for the year might entail.
“Dave Grohl was here in 2013 for the festival and he had a chance to experience it. We ended up connecting with Taylor Hawkins, their drummer, last year. We had him on the Culinary Stage and ended up befriending him and his wife, who loved BottleRock," said Graham about the band's history and association with Bottle Rock.
He went on to add, “Their main agent was also at the festival last year and had a chance to experience it. He became very comfortable with it, what it’s about, how it’s run. The Foo Fighters are in the studio all next year recording a new album and Bottle Rock may be their only show in 2017 in North America."
So while Foo fans stateside started to buzz about whether a Foo Fighters 2017 tour was forthcoming after the Bottle Rock announcement, Graham's revelation may cool that talk. His comments also fall in line with previous new album discussion from drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Back in November, Hawkins stated that the band was "in a hunker down period," also telling NME, "We’re fine, we love each other we’re all good. We’re just figuring out when the world’s ready for more Foo Fighters, we’re a family. We will make a new record at some point. We won’t really be ready until Dave’s ready to go. It’s on the books, so we’ll definitely be playing. We never really know, we just wait for a text from Dave saying, ‘Hey, let’s go down to the studio.’”
