Remember When Bring Me the Horizon Covered Slipknot and It Was Heavier Than Slipknot?
Bring Me the Horizon were a much different band when they formed in 2004. Riding the Myspace-fueled wave of Hot Topic deathcore in the mid-2000s, the band released two efforts during that era: an EP titled This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For, and a full-length called Count Your Blessings. The deluxe edition of the LP contained a bonus track that has largely been forgotten - even more so than the fact that Bring Me were a deathcore band at one point.
The group chose to place a layer of riff-heavy sludge over Slipknot's self-titled track "Eyeless." Unlike the original version, Bring Me's has no clean vocals. Instead it features a young Oli Sykes growling his heart out, much like he did on the remainder of the band's early material. You can check out the track for yourself below.
Last week, on Sykes' birthday (Nov. 20), Bring Me played a gig in Amsterdam and performed a number of songs that haven't seen the stage in years. Their throwback medley included "Re: They Have No Reflections," "(I Used To Make Out With) Medusa," "Diamonds Aren’t Forever" and "The Comedown." The former two are taken from their deathcore days, while the latter marked the beginning of their transition into a metalcore group. According to Kerrang!, the two deathcore tracks haven't been performed in over 10 years. You can check out video of the show here.
