Our newly-named Missoula PaddleHeads are one of 42 franchises facing elimination by Major League Baseball.

On Wednesday, the PaddleHeads released a statement praising members of the United States Congress, who have actually formed a task force to stand up for Minor League Baseball and speak out against MLB efforts to eliminate about one-quarter of all franchises across the country.

Missoula's General Manager Matt Ellis complemented the efforts of Rep. Lori Trahan of Massachusetts and David McKinley of West Virginia, as well as the efforts of Montana's Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines and Congressman Greg Gianforte.

Matt Ellis emphasized that "minor league baseball teams are vital to the social and economic lives of millions of Americans, supporting scores of local businesses and jobs...providing entertainment, supporting tourism and making charitable contributions."

Here's hoping some heavy hitters in D.C. can swing some influential bats. Good luck PaddleHeads and all the other teams on the elimination list.
