With all the craziness going on in America right now, it can be tempting to try and get out for a while. Maybe you're talking with the family about taking a road trip to Canada? Things will still be pretty crazy, but at least it'll be a change of scenery and maybe you can get some actual rest.

Well, hope you weren't planning on that quick Canadian vacation over the next few weeks. Canada and the US have announced that the current border restrictions between the two countries will be extended by 30 days, bringing it to July 21st. That means that all non-essential travel into Canada is banned until then.

The restrictions have already been extended a few times, and they've loosened them a little bit recently to allow for family members to reunite with other family members, but otherwise they've stayed pretty strict about it. Which definitely makes sense - Canada shares a border with the entire northern part of the US, and they don't want anyone coming in with the virus. The US has had over 2 million cases over the last few months, while Canada has seen just under 100,000. That's a pretty huge difference, and I doubt Canada is eager to let those numbers climb much higher if they can help it.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more extensions coming until the virus finally calms down in both countries. Were you planning a trip to Canada that you had to cancel as a result of COVID-19?
