CORRECTION TO ARTICLE ON WOMAN WHO CLAIMED SHE DEVELOPED AN ABSCESS AFTER DENTIST GAVE HER A FOOT MASSAGE
A story posted on April 9, 2018 reported on a local news item from St. Johns County, Florida, which reported that a woman claimed that she was given a foot massage and offered red wine by her dentist, and that she subsequently developed an infection in her mouth.
The original story by Action News Jax has since been removed and corrected to indicate that the woman’s allegations concerned a staff member at the dental office, not the dentist; that the office did not provide wine; that the patient requested the foot massage after it was mentioned as a joke; that the staff member washed his hands prior to performing dental work; and that the infection was not caused by the dental office. The correction to the original story is linked here. We regret the error and retract our prior story.
