Dave Grohl Jams Metallica / ‘Frozen’ Mashup With Kristen Bell; Foo Fighters Rock With Alice Cooper on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
Dave Grohl seriously made the most of his one-night stand as Jimmy Kimmel Live’s guest host. For the Halloween episode, Grohl dressed up as his old pal David Letterman for the entire show and even performed a Metallica/Frozen medley with Kristen Bell.
Jimmy Kimmel is taking this week off to spend time with his family after learning his newborn son, William, needed to undergo a second heart surgery. Some of entertainment’s biggest stars offered to step in to host this week’s run of shows, including Shaquille O’Neal, Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lawrence. Last night was Grohl’s time to shine and he pulled off the gig like a natural.
After delivering a monologue and introducing bizarre Halloween characters, Grohl welcomed Kristen Bell to the stage for an interview. Dressed as Tom Selleck from Magnum, P.I., Bell wanted to give Grohl’s kids a treat and perform a song from the wildly popular animated film Frozen.
After singing part of “Snowman,” Grohl jumped on the drums to eventually lead the song into a cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” Of course, the word "sandman" was turned into ‘snowman,’ the but rest of the song remained true to the Black Album anthem.
To finish off the show, Grohl interviewed Alice Cooper before the shock rock legend jammed “Ballad of Dwight Fry” and “Killer” with Foo Fighters as his backing band. When Cooper went for his iconic guillotine spot, the severed head ended up being Grohl’s to further punctuate such a rare collaboration.
