Perchance you caught my "holy horse s**t I'm old" Iron Maiden blog last week. As if that isn't enough to send me into midlife crisis mode, I see that one of my favorite movies is turning 20! The cast and crew of Dazed and Confused recently had a gathering in Austin, Texas, to celebrate the film's birthday (even though most of the actors/actresses that went onto bigger things later in their careers - Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Jason London, Parker Posey, Adam Goldberg - didn't show up).

I watched the movie three times the first time I rented it. Once to see it, and twice (after finding another VCR and some A/V cables) to dub copies for both myself and my best friend. It is because of this film that 1) I have an intense appreciation for a redhead in a station wagon, and 2) I will own a 1970 Chevelle SS one day. And the soundtracks . . . friggin fantastic.

Keep an eye out later this year as the movie is coming back to theaters. I'd buy extra tickets if I were you, just in case your friend asks you "hey, man, you got a ticket to the 20th anniversary of Dazed and Confused," you're not forced to say "no," inevitably followed by "it'd be a lot cooler if you did."
