Yesterday afternoon (Sept. 12) Decapitated appeared in court to face extradition from California to Washington, where all four members of the Polish death metal band were accused of kidnapping and sexual assault.

After Decapitated’s Aug. 31 gig in Spokane, Wash., a woman went to local police claiming she had been gang-raped by all four members of the band. After reportedly kissing singer Rafal Piotrowski, the singer allegedly started undoing her belt and the woman began resisting. According to count documents, she “attempted to push Piotrowski away but he grabbed her arm and spun her around to where she was facing the sink and mirror in the bathroom. She saw in the mirror and out of the corner of her eye each of the band members taking turns raping her.”

Decapitated were arrested in Santa Ana, Calif. on first-degree kidnapping charges Sept. 9. Three days later, each band member took turns in front of a judge, agreeing to be extradited to Washington. A polish translator was on-hand while a representative from the Polish consulate sat in the courtroom.

The death metal musicians will be held in jail until their extradition back to Washington, which could take up to 30 days.

Decapitated have denied the accusations against them. “We have witnesses that can testify to the fact that the accuser came to visit the band of her own free will and left on good terms,” a Spokane-based attorney representing the band stated. “Decapitated plan to fully fight the allegations that are brought against them, and we are fully confident that the other side of this story will be heard.”
