One man is in custody after a traffic stop in Missoula led to a high speed chase that finally ended in Lake County.

Corporal Jacob Jones with the Missoula Police Department provided details of the incident.

"Officers tried to initiate a traffic stop at 2:22 a.m. and the driver took off and law enforcement pursued, mostly on the Interstate and than out of town up to Lake County," said Corporal Jones. "We got assistance from the Missoula County Sheriff's Office, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the Montana Highway Patrol and Tribal Police. They were able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody just outside of Polson."

Jones said several sets of spike strips were used to disable the vehicle, and only one of the individuals in the GMC Yukon was arrested.

"There were two people in the vehicle, and the only was that was arrested was the driver," he said. "There were no injuries and no shots fired during the incident. The individual had outstanding warrants for some domestic violence issues, and he will also face charges related to the pursuit."

The suspect was seen at a hospital in Polson after complaining of dizziness, and then taken to the Missoula County Detention Center.
