I think we've all heard about the big Twitter news this week, right? If you haven't, consider me impressed that you were able to stay away from all the talk of it on radio, television, social media, your app alerts, and random conversations. If you're for it, against it, or somewhere in the middle, Elon Musk purchasing Twitter for $44 billion is a pretty big deal. But I would have to say that my favorite part about the news is all the wonderful memes, photos, and jokes that have made their way to the internet since the news became public.

The internet never fails to impress

Somebody fired up their favorite image editor and put together a fake tweet to look like it was from Elon Musk's account. As you can see below, it's supposed to be a tweet about Musk purchasing Eureka, MT, and his plans to fix the streets. I can't say I've spent time in Eureka but I'll assume we have either a pothole situation or maybe an ongoing traffic construction issue at play. I love the part where it shows more than 71,000 retweets! While that's not a crazy number when you consider Musk has so many followers reacting to his real tweets, the number being attached to this phony tweet makes me laugh since Eureka only has a population of about 1,400 people.

What would we fix in Missoula if we had Elon Musk money?

The doctored post got me thinking about what the same phony tweet would say if it was for Missoula instead of Eureka. I'm guessing the Twitterverse would offer up plenty of thoughts about issues to fix like affordable housing, getting the Beartracks Bridge and Caras Park projects completed, or maybe finally kicking the Riverfront Triangle project into gear.

What would you offer up as a suggestion?

LOOK: 50 famous memes and what they mean

With the infinite number of memes scattered across the internet, it's hard to keep track. Just when you've grasped the meaning of one hilarious meme, it has already become old news and replaced by something equally as enigmatic. Online forums like Tumblr, Twitter, 4chan, and Reddit are responsible for a majority of meme infections, and with the constant posting and sharing, finding the source of an original meme is easier said than done. Stacker hunted through internet resources, pop culture publications, and databases like Know Your Meme to find 50 different memes and what they mean. While the almost self-replicating nature of these vague symbols can get exhausting, memes in their essence can also bring people closer together—as long as they have internet access.
