Ever Happen to You? I Scored a FREE Grocery Order This Weekend

The conversation around my place is always repeating itself.....I ask my wife how much she spent on groceries after her trip to the store, she tells me what feels like a ridiculously high number, I mime the motions that I'm having a heart attack from the shock of how much she spent, and then she rolls her eyes at how unamusing my jokes are. What can I say? Some people just don't get good comedy.

The scenario above is how it happens 99 out of 100 times. But over the weekend we experienced the 1 in 100 situation! My wife ordered groceries online and went to pick them up. She followed that up with a trip to another store to purchase fruits and vegetables. (She doesn't like ordering those online - she likes to be able to pick them out.) When she got home she brought the fruits and vegetables from store #2 into the house and went out to the car to get the main grocery order from store #1. I followed her outside and that's when she noticed that nothing she had in the car was what she had ordered!

At first it seemed like a bummer because she would have to run back to the store and get the correct order. But it was far from a bummer.....it turned out to be a pretty sweet deal! An employee told her that they couldn't take the groceries back once they were in the vehicle and left the store. Thinking about that for safety reasons, it totally makes sense. But even stuff like laundry detergent - they said they couldn't take it back.

So my wife came home with our grocery order - AND the order that was given to her by mistake. Score! And we made out pretty good - milk, the same brand of laundry detergent that we use, a 30-pack of Capri Sun drinks, some Lunchables, a box of ice cream bars, etc. So we got a bunch of free groceries.....and whoever had their order missing probably just had to wait a bit longer while someone pulled the order again. It was a win-win situation. We just happened to win a little bit more!
