Famous Faces in Missoula to See Griz and Lady Griz Play Ball
Don't look now, but is Dahlberg Arena becoming The Staples Center of Montana? If you don't get the reference, I'll assume you're not a huge NBA basketball fan and that's ok. The Staples Center was the name of the arena where the Los Angeles Lakers played for over twenty years until they renamed it with another corporate sponsor last year. The place was (and still is) known for celebrities always being in attendance to see Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and others. The most famous Lakers fan through the years might be Jack Nicholson. It was a given - watch a game on tv and you were guaranteed a Nicholson appearance somewhere during the broadcast.
We've had a former NFL player.....
In the last few weeks, we've seen a couple of stories about some high-profile guests at Dahlberg arena to watch the Griz and Lady Griz teams play ball. The first one isn't too surprising since his daughter is a member of the Lady Griz, but former NFL quarterback and current college football broadcaster Brock Huard was in attendance at the end of February. He gave some love to both the fans and the team after they beat Montana State in the Brawl of the Wild game.
And a movie star!
And another familiar face was seen taking in some hoops at Dahlberg Arena over this last weekend, this time at the men's game. Yep, for you Lethal Weapon fans that would be Roger Murtaugh himself, Danny Glover. I did a little poking around but couldn't find out exactly why he was at the game. But Griz Basketball gave him a shoutout on Twitter as you can see below.
Tell 'em, Murtaugh!
Dang! It's been a while since I've seen Danny Glover. It's pretty crazy that he's 75! I'm not saying that's old.....it's just too old for certain stuff. C'mon, you didn't think I would end the article without including the catchphrase, did you?
