Yellowstone Club 2.0 Coming to Lakeside?
Well, guess what? The same developers who transformed Big Sky into a millionaire’s ski fort are at it again, and this time it’s Flathead Lake in their sights. They’re naming it the Flathead Lake Club, and already it sounds like the type of place where someone screams at a server for adding one ice cube too many to their beverage.
They’re selling 359 luxury home lots over 1,700 acres above Lakeside. It even comes with a golf course, private marina, spa, fancy shops, and a fire station. Plus a built-in alibi for why there would never be a reason to interact with the locals.

Sound familiar? It should. These are the same people who created the Yellowstone Club, Montana’s gated snow kingdom for celebrities, billionaires, and trust fund skiers who’ve never ridden a chairlift without their own staff.
Locals? Not Super Pumped
They had the first public hearing this week, and surprise: Lakeside folks aren’t exactly forming a line to roll out the welcome mat. Traffic on Highway 93, water and sewer stress, and what to do when a wildfire rolls through a community of nonresident homeowners. Fair points, honestly.
One person was even reminded of that time the Yellowstone Club dumped 30 million gallons of treated wastewater into the Gallatin River. So yeah, some trust issues.
The Deal for Now
The Flathead County Planning Board put the brakes on. They want more information before August. Developers say it will help the economy. The locals say it will turn their town into something ripped from a resort brochure. The truth lies somewhere in between.
All we know? Flathead may be on the way to getting a fancy, gated playground. But for many of us, it’ll just be driving past the security gate and saying to ourselves, “If only.”
