It is almost time to start airing up your tubes and go floating. One of Montana's favorite summer activities. Simply plopping your butt in an old innertube and floating for miles down some of Montana's most scenic rivers.

I was at a time considered what people would call a "river rat." I worked nights and had all day to play in the sun. I found myself floating the Blackfoot and Clark Fork rivers multiple times a week.

After a while, I was becoming somewhat of an expert on floating. I had all the essentials.

  • My dry box to keep my phone and wallet safe.
  • My special hat: was not only stylish but also kept me from burning alive.
  • My inflatable footrest
  • My vinyl tube with a built-in cooler
  • Custom cooler/tube combo for the longer floats
  • I even had a small battery-operated propeller for when I didn't want to paddle.

The only thing I was missing from my operation was the ability to whip up some snacks in between rapids. If only I had a way to cook hotdogs and burgers without having to wait until we get back to the beach.

Presenting the Float N' Grill

I am just now learning about this fabulous contraption that allows you to cook while you enjoy a relaxing day on the water. Complete with 3 cup holders and 2 anchor points, the grill was created after the inventors faced a problem with a lack of room for people, adult beverages, and hot food on their floats.

Jeremy and Michael, inventors of the Float N' Grill were even featured on the hit show "Shark Tank."

Unfortunately, the dream of owning one of these grills seems bleak. The company no longer has a website and the product is listed as unavailable on Amazon.

If you find one, let me know. Otherwise, I will be in my shop trying to build my own. See you on the water.
