Godsmack's Sully Erna is working on a documentary film that chronicles his life. The singer and guitarist recently spilled the beans about the in-progress doc to Florida radio station WXTB 98ROCK. Watch the video below.

With biopics like Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and Motley Crue's The Dirt suiting viewers fancies of late, Erna was asked to imagine an opening scene for a possible Godsmack documentary. Humorously declining the exercise, the frontman joked that it would be inappropriate to publicly visualize such a scene "while people still have wives and girlfriends in this band." However, as Godsmack's story continues to unfold — and with a movie about the band's story still a ways off — the singer noted that his documentary of a much more singular focus is already in the works.

"A lot of people [have been] asking us about the Godsmack doc," Erna replied. "If it's gonna come out, when it will come out. And my answer is, it can't come out yet because we don't know how it ends. We're still living through it."

That said, however, Erna revealed that his personal documentary will show his journey as a man and a musician. As opposed to solely focusing on his music biz success, which a Godsmack movie would inevitably illustrate.

He explained, "I have been working on a feature documentary about my life story that's based on my book that has a lot of Godsmack elements in it as it gets towards the tail of end of it. Because it goes from the time I was born, and all the struggles I went through, up until I got a record deal."

Erna's book, the memoir The Paths We Choose, was first released in 2007. In it, the Godsmack frontman details his rise, starting with the "harrowing journey through a violent childhood on the wrong streets," according to a Boston Globe review published around the time of the tome's release.

Godsmack's seventh studio album, When Legends Rise, was released last year. This spring and summer, the band will be on tour throughout Canada, Europe and the U.S. See the full listing of dates down below.
