‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Gets a New Logo, Full Cast Revealed Next Week
Production has officially begun on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in Atlanta, and James Gunn has shared a new set photo to kick things off. That photo features a new logo for the upcoming sequel, which doesn’t hit theaters until next year. And while we’ve been very patiently waiting for casting announcements, Gunn assures fans that we’ll get the full scoop next week.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 logo appears on one of the crew chairs, as seen in this photo Gunn shared to Facebook:
To quote the great poet David Coverdale, Here I Go Again.

The logo has a sort of late ’80s vibe with that Vol. 2 line. In addition, Gunn participated in a live Q&A on Facebook yesterday, where he said that a full casting announcement for the sequel should be arriving next week. So far, we know that Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan and Michael Rooker are returning to reprise their roles, with Oldboy star Pom Klementieff cast in a mystery role (which many have speculated to be Mantis).
Kurt Russell has been in talks to play Star-Lord’s father, though the actor has yet to be confirmed, as has the film’s villain or any other new supporting characters. Here’s who we won’t see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Thanos. Gunn has repeatedly confirmed that the galactic villain will be a bit too occupied chasing after Infinity Stones to appear in this film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
