Hamilton High Broncs Overwhelm Butte Central in Football
The winning just keeps happening with the Hamilton High School Bronc football team. This time it was on their home field against Class A Butte Central. The final score was Hamilton 49 Butte Central 14.
Hamilton's attacks started on the first play, when Tyson Bauder ran the Butte Central kickoff back 89 yards for a touchdown. Tyler Jones kicked the PAT and Hamilton led 7 to 0. Within two more minutes, the Broncs scored again when quarterback Tyson Rostad ran the ball into the endzone on a keeper. Another successful PAt from Jones and Hamilton led by two touchdowns. And they weren't done in the first quarter. Rostad passed to Liam O'Connell who ran 49 yards for another score and Jones kicked another PAT.
In the second quarter, Rostad passed to Eli Taylor who ran 72 yards for a TD, with another Jones PAT. Rostad then went in with another keeper and with Jones kicked the PAT bringing the score to 35-0, starting the Montana High School Association "mercy clock," where the game clock runs continually, except for injuries and timeouts. Hamilton scored again before the half with a short pass from Rostad to Taylor in the end zone. A good Jones PAT and the Broncs led 42 to 0 at the half.
Some substitutions in the second half of the game and there were no scores in the third quarter. Hamilton scored one more time in the fourth quarter and in the final minutes, Butte Central scored twice, bringing the final score to 49-14. Next Friday, Hamilton travels to Stevensville for a Bitterroot Valley rivalry. The game will be on the air at 1240 KLYQ AM and www.klyq.com.
