Saturday, you can run a muddy obstacle course or enter into a haunted house maze ... or do both! At the Ravalli County Airport in Hamilton, the "Run of the Dead" is a wet and messy 5K mud run with obstacles such as the Otter Bobber, Tunneling Mole, Weasel Wiggle, Frigid Fox and Badger Crawl. There's an adult course and a kids "munchkin" course, according to Kelly Morris of the sponsoring Ravalli County Weed District. Morris said that last year the Mud Run had been in the summer, but was moved to October 12 with a Halloween theme. And since it was Halloween, they decided to build a Haunted House maze. On October 12, The Mud Run and the Haunted House will be open for chills and thrills from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. The next two weekends, October 18-19 and October 25-26 the Haunted House only will run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Both the Run and the House will benefit conservation education programs at the Weed District.

The Trapper Creek Job Corps had a major contribution in construction and is helping provide the scares each weekend. Morris said there will be a bonfire with a free S'mores bar, a food court, a glow-in-the-dark slide, apple bobbing and more. They also will be collecting canned goods for local food banks.Check their Facebook page for more information and photos. You can also call (406) 777-5842.
