The Hamilton School Board voted to finish out the 2019-2020 school year with remote/distance learning. After examining the Montana recommendations for having classes during the COVID-19 pandemic (even with phased-in re-opening), the board decided the benefits of opening the classrooms were not worth the risks. Some of the Montana "School Reopening Considerations" include frequent sanitizing, keeping libraries, gyms and playgrounds off limits unless they can be frequently sanitized, implementing temperature checks, consider using face coverings, canceling extracurricular activities, preventing parents and others from entering school buildings, and providing extra accommodations to students and staff who might be at high risk.

The Hamilton School District principals will be taking part in a question-and-answer "Facebook Live" session in the next few days. The teachers have been developing schedules to continue the distance learning. Here's a great video from the HSD3 Facebook page, showing some of the behind-the-scenes work.
