A head-on collision between a truck and a passenger car near Victor sent a woman to Missoula's St. Patrick Hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Ken Breidenbach with the Montana Highway Patrol said the accident took place Thursday morning just outside of Victor.

"A little after 11:30 this morning on Highway 93 south of Victor, near the Parts Unlimited store, we had a two-vehicle head-on crash between a Ford F-350 pickup truck and a Dodge Caliber. The truck was attempting to turn left into the store's parking lot, and failed to yield to the Dodge."

Breidenbach said both drivers were injured, but only one was hospitalized.

"The female driver of the Dodge was transported by Marcus Daly ambulance to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. She will be OK, but she'll be in intensive care for awhile," he said. "The driver of the pickup refused medical treatment, despite the fact that he had minor injuries from his seat belt and the impact of the airbag."

Breidenbach emphasized the importance of staying calm while driving this long holiday weekend.

"The big thing is slow down, take a little extra time and realize there's going to be a lot more cars on the road," he said. "Wear your seat belts and when partaking of an adult beverage, have someone else do the driving, and plan that ahead, because you're not going to be able to think about that after the fact."
