Help Westside Park Upgrade the Playground Equipment
If you have somebody you want to send a nice Christmas card to, and you want to help with a project in the community, there's a way you can cross both of those boxes off your list. Westside Park is in need of new playground equipment and they're tapping into the holidays to help drive donations from the public.
The wooden structures that make up the playground at Westside Park have felt the effects of the weather (and kids) over the years, and renovations have begun to get some updated equipment in place. A holiday fundraiser is underway - and anyone that donates at least $30 will get a Christmas card made from a copy of a local artist's work. Donations of $100 or more will go into a drawing to win the original piece of art.
The City of Missoula's website includes the following thoughts on the plans for the playground upgrade:
"The Master Park Plan includes a new playground that was designed in part by local play experts—the Westside neighborhood kids who’ll be using it. In 2018, 310 students from Lowell Elementary participated in a playground study, which included a field trip to six different playgrounds throughout the City. Kids had a chance to play on the features at each playground and tell park planners and MCPS staff which of those elements they would like to see in their own school playground. Park designers used the study to gain valuable insight into how children interact with each other and with the various play features in each park."
Donations will continue to be accepted for the project - but TODAY (12/15) is the last day to have your donation qualify for one of the Christmas cards.
