The housing market has been no laughing matter in Missoula for quite some time now. Rentals have been especially hard to find. Now, dont get me wrong, there are plenty of places to choose from if you make a fair wage, dont have pets and dont mind living in a 600 square foot apartment. In my experience with renting in Missoula, you would have to dedicate 6-8 weeks of searching before you could settle on a "halfway decent place." And by "halfway decent" I mean a place that allows pets, but also smells like there may be some former tenants dead pets somewhere in the house. And dont forget about the pet deposit. You know that you will never get that back. Regardless of how big of a saint your dog or cat may be. The landlords will typically just consider that theirs once you sign the lease.

But, every once in a while, you find a diamond in the rough. If you stay diligent and keep searching, your dream rental may just pop up. Take the following rental on Craigslist. It features river front property, allows pets and is only minutes from Downtown. With gorgeous views, river access, a huge yard and "off street parking" for your shopping carts.

The listing reads:

Enjoy country living away from the hustle and bustle of Missoula. This beautiful, quaint 1 BR is located minutes away from downtown. You will love the big backyard with easy river access. There's plenty of off street parking for shopping carts, bikes etc. Pets permitted on approval with extra pet fee, (one time $2,500, we don't know what that is for, possibly just another way to gouge some more money ), deposit ($10,000) and pet rent of only additional $1,000 per month. If you're searching for a beautiful, affordable rental home and just not having any options, I encourage you to come see this gorgeous set up. Otherwise in Missoula your sh!t out of luck!
