How to Buy and Sell Used Winter Gear in Missoula This Month
For the past 53 years, local powder hounds have been flocking to Missoula's SOS Fair to score affordable winter gear. Because lift tickets and season passes certainly aren't exactly cheap, skiiers and boarders have to save money where they can. It's also an opportunity to help others by swapping clothing and gear you no longer fit or need.
This year's SOS Fair will be the weekend of October 30th and 31st at the Commercial Building the Missoula Fairgrounds. Due to COVID safety and all of the "new normal" things we've become accustomed to, there will be a few changes this year. First, there is no booth space available. Second, you may not tag your stuff on location, it must be done in advance.
+Gear check-in is Saturday, October 30th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
+Shop the sale on Sunday, October 31st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only.
+Unsold equipment MUST be picked up on Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m.
Considering that local ski patrols and snow enthusiasts have been rockin' this event for decades, the whole thing runs pretty smoothly. Fun Fact: the first Missoula SOS Ski Swap was held in 1968 in the basement of a bank. Since then it's been at the Adams Center (and even the Harry Adams Field House!) and Big Sky High School, but with the pandemic still abrewin', they are back at the Fairgrounds this year.
Acceptable items include winter clothing, jackets, ski poles, skis, boots, and skates. Find the FAQ, how to sell, how to buy, and all of the info here.
