Missoula Montana Reacts To Unofficial Demonyms On Reddit

The longer I live in Missoula, the more it surprises me. Like how the whitetail deer have no qualms about traipsing around in Pattee Canyon all willy-nilly with no regard for S Higgins commuters, or how a foot of snow on the ground barely scratches the surface of what we're used to putting up with all year.

But when we came up with an unofficial list of the demonyms for Montana towns and cities, you all surprised me again with your comments in the Missoula subreddit. Here are some of our favorites from that comment section.

Since we couldn't find anything official on any website, it's safe to go with your gut on this one.

We had missed Big Fork in our original post, however since Red Lodge residents are "Red Lodgers" and Whitefish peeps are "Whitefishers" this checks out.

Nothing like reigniting the Missoula/Bozeman rivalry with some friendly jabs! We didn't get a lot of pushback on "Bozemanites" from the group, however these entries are too good not to share.

Hellenite? Great Fallerite? Hats off to Capt Bobalou for the creative thinking. We couldn't find a demonym for Havre in the original article either, but this one looks more official than "Havre, Have Not."

I think we have a winner here. If we can borrow "Florentine" from Florence, Italy we may as well borrow the Scottish name too. We may want to give Belgrade residents a heads-up to make sure they're cool with "Belgroid" though.
