Tubas are such great instruments. They can be serious, they can be funny and when a lot of them get together, they can make the holidays something special. Tonight at 7pm at the Southgate Mall the tubas will be coming together again for a "Tuba Christmas" concert. This year instead of center court the concert will be held in the Scheels concourse.

Everyone is invited

Everyone is invited to the event. It is a great time for all ages. Not only that, but if you play the tuba you can be a part of the event too. My son has been a part of this event in the past. When we attended the event, the age of tuba players ranged from 10 years old to over 80. Tuba players from other parts of the state came to participate--players from Kalispell, Helena, Hamilton and more were involved.

Tubas for the holidays

Tuba players were a part of the Missoula Downtown Association's Parade of Lights last weekend. They are such a great addition to that event. I think we can all agree that it will be nice when the Beatracks Bridge downtown will be completed and we can have traditional parades downtown again.

Enjoy the show

I have been having a hard time getting in the swing of the holidays lately, but when I hear the sound of dozens of tubas playing the "holiday classics" I know that I will feel like the holidays have finally arrived. Let's give thanks to Gary Gillett for helping to lead such a wonderful tradition here in Missoula and tonight let's all enjoy the wonderful sound of the tuba.
