How Montana’s Beer Scene Balances Local Craft Brews And National Icons

The people of Montana like their beer. I don't think it is a stretch to state that. The quality of beer being brewed in Montana is impressive. The Montana Brewers Association recently held their awards, and there are some  amazing brewers in the state and it looks like the number of breweries continues to grow.

Even with all the quality local brews, there are people who still enjoy some of the big breweries. Bud Light was the most popular beer in Montana and nationwide for years. It looks like that may not be the case any longer.

Food and Wine, using information from Coffeeness, has put together a map of the most searched beers in each state. That doesn't necessarily mean the most searched beer is the most purchased beer, but it does show what beers people are searching for. Before we find out what beer Montana is searching for, here are five iconic Montana brews.

According to the report, Miller Beer is the most searched beer in the country with thirty states searching for that beer, including Montana. All of our neighbors are searching for Miller beer too.

North Carolina and Ohio are still searching for Bud Light more than any other beer. In honor of St. Patrick's Day South Carolina and Georgia are both searching for Guinness.

Miller isn't a bad beer, after all its nickname is the "Champagne of Beers". It has been a long time since I have had a major brewery beer, not because I'm a snob, it's because I continuously find local Montana beers to try.
