A Google Trends search on the word "Montana" returned a search phrase that had risen 1,850% in the last 24 hours.

That's a pretty significant increase for such a short amount of time. The search phrase itself presents a pretty interesting picture, too: People are Googling "Christmas in Montana."

What Is "Christmas in Montana"?

No, it's not that people are planning a trip to Montana for Christmas. This is a Hallmark movie from 2019. Have you seen it? It stars Kellie Martin, who you might remember from shows like "Life Goes On" or "ER". I remember her from the show "Christy" which only aired for a season but also starred Tyne Daly and Levar Burton. "Christmas in Montana" also stars Colin Ferguson, one of those actors you've seen in many things, but you might not be able to remember which thing you saw him in last.

As you might expect, "Christmas in Montana" is about an executive sent "on a business trip" to Montana where she'll help the leading man save his ranch. And no, the movie was not filmed in Montana, though some people say parts of it look like western Montana, and it takes place in Bigfork. This movie was filmed in Ontario, Canada according to IMDB and has a 6.7/10 rating. Amazon rates the movie 4.8 stars but it doesn't have enough ratings on Rotten Tomatoes to have a score.

It has lines like:

HER: This place is incredible. I've never seen Christmas brought to life like this.

HIM: I'd like to think it's all about who you experience it with.

HER: Well, I'm glad it's with you...and your family of course.

HIM: Of course.

Classic Hallmark.

You might wonder why the movie is gaining traction right now, I did. So, I did a bit more digging.

Why is "Christmas in Montana" Trending Right Now?

My hat goes off to the programmers at Hallmark. It might be a stretch but the movie is probably trending right now because it looks like they've scheduled "Christmas in Montana" to air on November 5.

That's a pretty strategic choice because November 5 is also Election Day. TV watchers everywhere will be looking for something to escape that constant election coverage that night, so why not a Hallmark Christmas movie? And one set in Montana? Even more pleasing for the masses.
