They've done it again.

Since the completion of the Missoula Public Library's new building, the library has been getting heaps of praise for its beautiful design and function. If you've visited the library, you've seen the wide open floors, the copious windows, the wide staircases, and the amazing views from the patio on the fourth floor. The library is beautiful but also an incomparable resource for our community.

Physical spaces from partnerships in the Missoula community offer education and play for young and old, like the spectrUM Discovery Lab and the UM Living Lab. But ongoing programming provides a diverse array of education and engagement, too. Just in the next week, the library will host:

  • Home Resource Fix-It Clinic, June 22
  • Adventures in Zine-Making, June 23
  • MCAT Media Shenanigans, June 24
  • Hands-On Plant Lab, June 25

With all the library has to offer from aesthetics to programming, it's no surprise, but welcome news, that it has won a third design award.

The Missoula Public Library in partnership with architects MSR Design and A&E Design has won an International Interior Design Association award. The IIDA focuses its efforts on "advancements in education, design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach..." and as the library said in its social media post the award was given for "...extraordinary design reflected through innovate concepts."

Previous awards that the Missoula Public Library has received include World's Best Public Library in 2022 and an AIA/ALA Library Building Award from the American Institute of Architects and the American Library Association in 2023.

Congratulations to the library, MSR Design and A&E Design on these amazing accomplishments.
