Local Businesses Rally as SNAP Cuts Threaten Missoula Families
It hasn’t taken long at all for businesses and individuals to offer a hand in Missoula to those who need it.
As the government shutdown continues and with the news that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will expire on November 1, there is fear that members of our community are going to go hungry.
Community Responds to SNAP Lapse
Local agencies are doing what they can to help those who need it. Area food banks are preparing for an anticipated surge in clients. This time of year, it can be very difficult for families that rely on government assistance to keep food on the table.
Local Businesses Step Up to Help
Locally, Pattee Creek Market at 704 S.W. Higgins has been putting together food donation bags for people who need them. Local customers are paying for the bags so another family can eat. According to their Facebook page, as of yesterday, they had 56 bags paid for by their customers. If you would like to help, you can purchase a bag for someone in need. If you need a bag, you can pick them up at the store while they last.
It’s things like this that keep our community together.
Taco John’s has announced that they are going to be helping those who need it over this weekend.
