Have you started your holiday shopping yet? You might hope to buy presents early in the year but still shop the few weeks (or days) before the holidays. Let this be your reminder to start now. You might even be able to pick some of these gifts up and drop them off over the Thanksgiving Holidays.

Here are a few gift ideas for Montanans that support local brands and businesses.

For the Montanan Who Loves Comfort

Merino wool is one of the best fabrics for staying warm and dry during the winter and when the wool comes from Montana sheep from The Helle Family in Dillon, it's even better.

For the Montanan Who Appreciates Utility

Every hobby needs a bag, whether it's a duffel or tote, or even just a toiletry bag for a quick trip to Vegas or Seattle. If you want to get your Montanan a bag and support a Montana brand at the same time try Red Oxx MFG, Inc. based in Billings.

These bags started as designs made by a Montana veteran. The company's story is pretty cool if you want to learn more.

For the Montanan Who Loves Dogs

West Paw dog toys are great for heavy chewers--I should know, I've got two of them at home. As an added bonus, you can recycle the used dog toys with West Paw and they'll use the materials to make new toys.

For the Montanan Who Loves to Cook

A Montanan's spice rack isn't complete without "Montana's Special Spice." What started out as a "Touch of Magic" is now a whole line of rubs and seasonings for just about anything you could want to cook. A bottle of Alpine Touch makes a great stocking stuffer.

For the Montanan Who Loves Golf

There's even an opportunity to support a local brand for the Montana golfer in the family. Sun Mountain Sports has golf bags and carts, travel gear, and clothes for golfers and is available in stores across Montana and online.

For the Montanan Who Loves Sustainability

Lots of fashion brands are making clothes out of recycled materials now but the process isn't always transparent. Youer in Missoula frequently explains on social media exactly what goes into making the clothes they sell.

For the Montanan Who Loves Snacks

Another gift that would make a great stocking stuffer: Hi-Country Snack Foods Inc. out of Lincoln, Montana. They make fantastic jerky, including elk and bison jerky, as well as seasonings and pet treats. You could put together an adventure gift and include several products on this list along with this jerky.

For the Montanan Who Hikes

For that adventure gift, you get the Merino wool insulation layers from Duckworth, the travel bag from Red Oxx, the jerky from Hi-Country, and then some hiking boots from Oboz Footwear in Bozeman.

For the Montanan Who Loves Naps

When your Montanan is done adventuring, make sure they have the comfiest blankets and slippers. Three Dog Down in Polson has goose-down comforters, and other down products like pillows, coats, and vests. If you want the gift to be super local, find the comforters that were sewn in Polson.

Montana Holiday Collection Will Get You In The Christmas Spirit

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Bozeman, and for those of you who still are having a bit of a problem getting into the spirit of the season, I have the perfect place for you to check out.

As you travel around the area this Holiday Season taking in all the lights and various displays, you will certainly want to stop in and spend a little time at one long-time Bozeman business.

The Lewis and Clark Motel located at 824 West Main has one of the most spectacular Nutcracker displays that you will ever see. With almost 600 on display, the self-guided tour is a great way to get into the Holiday spirit, while remembering the old-fashioned Christmases that so many of us enjoyed as kids.
