There's no question that one of the things people say they want to do when they come to Montana is to "have a steak." When my older brother moved away for college and we asked him what he was looking forward to when he came home, his answer was usually: a steak.

It's a stereotype about Montana for a reason. We have fantastic steak restaurants. Just check out these Montana steakhouses:

Steakhouses are popular across the rest of the country too (even if we know they taste better here). Digg.com covered a study done by OnDeck about the density of restaurants across the country and not only was "steakhouse" at the top of the list, but it was also the most competitive type of restaurant to start in Montana. Are you surprised? I'm not.

Montana and six other states, including neighboring Wyoming, had steakhouses as the most competitive type of restaurant to start.

If you have ever thought you might want to try starting a restaurant, it might help to start one of the least competitive types.

If you're a restaurateur in Montana, you may want to consider opening a Korean restaurant as that was the least competitive type of restaurant in Montana along with 11 other states according to OnDeck.

This also may not come as a surprise as Asian cuisine is generally popular in Montana, especially in Missoula. We wrote about the highest-ranked Asian cuisine in Missoula and one restaurant received a perfect 10 while 10 restaurants received combined rantings of 8 or above. And Montana does have Korean restaurants, but we could use more.

These Are The Most Popular Restaurants In Montana

Montana is jam packed with some of the best food in the country. From fine dining to small, local joints - it's natural that a state with so many locally sourced foods would have such great restaurants.
