Missoula is getting another neighborhood park, and construction is about to begin.

Infrastructure Upgrades: What to Expect

Missoula Parks and Recreation and the City of Missoula Public Works and Mobility Department will begin work on the North Scott Street Improvement Project on August 10, bringing a brand-new park and major infrastructure improvements to the Northside.

The project is expected to continue through late summer and fall of 2026, with work wrapping up during the spring and summer of 2027, weather permitting.

Park Features: A Community Hub Awaits

Once completed, the new neighborhood park will feature:

  • A multipurpose athletic field
  • A playground
  • A new dog park serving Missoula's Northside
  • A sports court
  • A shade pavilion
  • Walking paths
  • Public restrooms
  • New trees and landscaping
  • A water feature

Along with the park itself, crews will also be constructing new sidewalks and planting trees along Scott Street, Otis Street, Rogers Street, and Shakespeare Street. A shared-use path on the west side of Scott Street is also included in the project.

Project Phasing: Managing Local Access

Construction will begin on Scott Street before moving through the rest of the project area in phases.

According to the City of Missoula, phasing the project will allow crews to focus on one section at a time while maintaining local access whenever possible.

What Residents Should Know: Anticipating Changes

Residents should expect:

  • Temporary traffic delays
  • Sidewalk detours
  • Construction equipment and noise
  • Temporary impacts to local streets

The city says it will work with the contractor to minimize disruptions and maintain access to nearby homes and businesses whenever possible.
