Montana Just Crowned Its Best Craft Hot Sauce, and the Flavor Is Unreal
When it comes time to spice up your meal, you should think twice about what sauce you are going to be reaching for.
There are national brands to kick your food up a notch, but if you want to try something spicy and interesting you may want to look for something that is local and getting some attention.
When it comes to hot sauces I am not one of those people that can handle whatever heat is thrown at them. Not to say I am a wimp, but let's just say I am all about flavor when I feel the burn.
I was exposed to Pulley's Hot Sauce a few years ago when Stephen Pulley stopped by the radio station and left some samples of his sauces. Ever since then I have been a fan. It looks like I am not the only one either.
Saucedapp.com asked their readers to vote for their favorite hot sauces and the highest vote-getter for Montana is Pulley's Hot Sauce.
Montana's Pulley's Hot Sauces
Recently, I had an opportunity to talk with Pulley about his sauces. Since the last time we spoke he has expanded his selection of sauces. He currently offers eight sauces:
- Funky Chicken Sriracha
- Flathead Cherry Chipotle
- Moruga Island Tropical
- Blazing Peach
- Mole
- K'o'ox XXXX Special Reserve
- Montana Gold
- Salsa Verde
His sauces have a heat scale of 1-10, with the Salsa Verde coming in at a 2 and K'o'ox at a 10.
Pulley's sauces are found in independent grocery and specialty stores across Montana, like Rockin' Rudy's and Pattee Creek Market in Missoula.
He prides himself on buying ingredients locally. For example, his cherries come from The Orchard at Flathead Lake, his peaches come from Forbidden Fruit Orchard in Paradise, and he also purchases produce from Harlequin Produce in Arlee.
More recently he has teamed up with Pattee Creek Market where they are using his sauces in their recipes for smoked fish, chorizo, and bratwurst.
There are a lot of hot sauces being made in Montana, but there is a reason that the fans have chosen Pulley's as the best. Be warned: if you try some of these sauces, not only are they hot and tasty, but you may start craving them regularly.
