Taco John’s Steps In: Free Meals for Montana Families During SNAP Freeze
The government shutdown is affecting a lot of Montanans, especially with the suspension of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. SNAP funding is expected to expire on November 1.
The Scope of SNAP Participation in Montana
According to USAFacts, 81,500 Montanans used SNAP benefits in 2024. Montana food banks are expecting a big surge of clients in the upcoming days. In Browning, the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council has declared a state of emergency to prepare for the funding shortage.

Taco John’s restaurants have stepped up to help those who need it. On a Facebook post, the restaurant chain has announced that they are offering free meals for those in need starting October 31 and running through November 2. Customers who request the “Community Special” will receive one beef or bean burrito and one Jr. Potato Olés®.
Taco John’s will also be donating to local food banks. On Thursday, November 6, for every purchase of a Taco Bravo, Taco John's will be making a donation to food banks.
How You Can Help: Donations and Volunteering
Many people are asking what they can do to help. Local food banks can always use donations — financial gifts or volunteers alike. All of it goes a long way. With one of the biggest food-focused holidays coming up with Thanksgiving, if you can, please help those in need this year.
Taco John’s has always been one of my favorite fast-food restaurants, and with them stepping in to help out, it only makes me appreciate them more.
