A new hardware and garden store will open at Southgate Mall in April of 2024.

Located at 3033 Paxson Street, Zootown Hardware & Garden has been teasing progress on the new store's location since last fall.

In a social media post on November 28, 2023, they announced, "Coming this Spring is Missoula's new choice for hardware and garden. A locally owned DIY location next to Southgate Mall, we'll bring Missoula a shopping experience tailored for our area by those who live in the area.

The post was accompanied by a graphic with a list of brands and vendors the business will be associated with, including:

  • Do It Best - a member-owned cooperative with hardware, lumber and building materials, and the
  • Channel Lock - an American handtool company
  • Greenworks - a company of battery-powered tools
  • Milwaukee - a brand selling power tools, hand tools, and other equipment
  • ScottsMiracle-Gro - a lawn and gardening brand
  • Valspar - a paint company

Since then, they've shared progress on how the store has been taking shape.

In the video above, progress shows where the front door, garden center door and rental areas will be. Another post points out that the store's lighting was designed to limit shadows on the products.

Other Spring Openings at Southgate Mall

The Southgate Mall will have other stores opening soon. Previous announcements shared that Mary's Mountain Cookies and Elote Mexican Bar and Grille both have plans to open, and they have both posted updates on their websites saying they plan to open in March of 2024.
