Missoula’s “Hip Strip” just got a little sweeter with the opening of a new candy store called Zootown Sweets, located on the corner of 3rd Street and Higgins. They store opened yesterday.

A Sweet Addition to Missoula’s Hip Strip

Zootown Sweets sells bulk candy and various toys, like stuffed animals and Crazy Aaron’s Putty.I spoke with Libby, who was working at the store, and asked if they plan to make candy. At the moment, they aren’t making candy.

Opening the store right before Valentine’s Day is good timing. They have a big selection of bulk candy, chocolates, and Australian licorice. Personally, I’m a fan of some classic candies from my youth. I like to take a walk down memory lane with a Charleston Chew, a Goo Goo Cluster, Fun Dip, or Wacky Wafers, and they have them. I am an even bigger fan of gummy candies than I would like to admit, and they have a large selection of those in bulk as well.

Bulk Candy, Classics, and Nostalgic Favorites

I can thank Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for my appreciation of candy stores. It was also one of the first movies I remember that had a character from Montana whom I could relate to. Mr. Beauregarde and Violet were from Miles City.
