
Costco Is Raising Wages To $30/Hour… Will Montana Reap The Benefits?
Every time I write or talk about Costco I like to remind everybody that I, Ace Sauerwein, have never been to a Costco.
At this point, I like being a contrarian. All I hear about Costco is how it's such a magical place. It has the best prices and deals and the glizzies... Oh, the glizzies. They're such a magical food.

Costco workers get ready for more $$$
Anyways, Reuters reported this week that Costco is raising its store worker wages to $30/hour.
Retailer Costco Wholesale (COST.O) will increase pay for most of its hourly U.S. store workers to more than $30, according to a memo sent to employees this week. - from Reuters.com

It appears to be a nationwide change favoring all Costco hourly employees. The story doesn't point out if individual states are in or out on this change, so it appears Montanans will benefit.

If my Midwest arithmetic is correct, $30 an hour translates to over $62,000 per year ranking toward the top of any retail jobs list.
According to Career Cloud, Costco would be the best-paying retailing job in the country. On Their list of "20 Of The Best Retail Jobs," Costco would check in on the top spot tied with Ikea. Patagonia hourly workers get paid $29/hour and even Apple Geniuses get paid just under $26/hour.
It doesn't state when the change will occur, but there are plenty of available job openings at Missoula's location.
