
Study Says Missoula Residents Struggle With Saving Money
I'll lead us off by saying I'm not the best financial advisor for my own wealth. I'm not the worst saver in the world, but I definitely prioritize spending money on traveling or vacations more so than saving money for my future well-being.
Missoula is bad at saving money
WalletHub released a study ranking the best & worst cities when it comes to budgeting. They broke the study into three categories - Spending & Debt, Credit and Savings.
WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities to find where the best budgeters in America live. We did so by examining 12 key metrics, ranging from average credit score to debt-to-income ratios to foreclosure rates - John S Kiernan on WalletHub.com

The study placed Missoula #100 overall, a touch over the halfway point. It's a fine score, nothing to write home about or throw your hands up in the air over, but one area Missoula struggled was savings. Missoula was #147, tied with Billings, in savings.
What the heck, guys? Where's all our money going? Highly expensive rent? Over-the-top home prices?

For what it's worth, Seattle checked in as the city with the best budgeters, followed by Fremont, California and a pair of cities in Hawai'i - Honolulu and Pearl City.
On the flip side of the list, Shreveport, Louisiana scored the worst followed by Memphis and a pair of cities in Mississippi - Gulfport and Jackson.
Hawaiians? Good with money. Mississippians? Bad.
