I guess when you toss out 2020 (thanks, COVID) and play a couple actual games in the spring of 2021, five years doesn't seem as far-fetched.

But it has indeed been not since 2018 that the Montana Grizzlies hosted their annual spring football game on their home turf. And while they never wandered very far, it will be nice to have them at home in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

UM Sports Information Director Eric Taber tells us that the University of Montana Grizzly Scholarship Association has announced that the annual Griz Football Spring Game returns home in 2023. The 2023 GSA Spring Game will be an evening affair, 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7. As is tradition, the game brings to a close Montana's 15-practice spring season.

The Grizzly Scholarship Association will also be hosting a pregame tailgate party (of course they are. It's Griz football for goodness sake) starting at 4:00 p.m. Fans are also invited to stay following the game to meet the team and collect autographs.

Tickets for the spring scrimmage are on sale now on this page of GrizTix.com and at the Adams Center Ticket Office. All tickets to the event are general admission and cost $10 each. University of Montana students get in free with valid Griz Card.

All proceeds from the event go to the GSA for the purpose of providing scholarships to student-athletes.

The Grizzlies are scheduled to begin spring practices on Wednesday, March 1. Practices are usually held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a pause for spring break the week of March 20-24. The Griz open the 2023 football season at home Labor Day weekend, hosting the Butler Bulldogs on September 2.
