Drunk Driver Flees After Crashing Into a Gate in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 26th, 2026, at 11:58 p.m., a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to a potential injury crash near the walking path on North California. The reporting party, John Doe, reported that a smaller vehicle was driving on the walking path towards him. He then heard the vehicle crash into something and saw the occupants were leaving.
The officer arrived on scene and spoke with Doe. Doe stated that the vehicle was now parked in the back corner of the apartment complex. Doe explained that he observed the occupants of the vehicle go into the building, but he was unsure which unit they entered.
Doe further explained that he was walking his dog on the Milwaukee trail towards the southwest corner of the building when he then saw headlights and the vehicle coming towards him. Doe stated "she [the driver] almost hit me" and then the vehicle took off and collided with a metal railing and continued on the lawn. A Lime-A-Rita can was located on the lawn, it was collected and logged into evidence.

Doe started to show the officer where this occurred and then recognized the vehicle leaving from the lawn towards Dakota Street. The officer and Doe observed the vehicle drive across the Milwaukee trail and stop in the grass area just before the street. The officer observed a male exit the vehicle and get into the driver's seat. The officer could also see the vehicle moving as if someone inside was moving seats. The officer also observed the vehicle continue over the curb and onto Dakota Street without their headlights on.
The officer informed other officers now on scene of the moving vehicle, who then initiated a traffic stop and subsequent DUI investigations. Then the officer responded to the active traffic stop and the driver was identified as 22-year-old Kyleah Dougherty-Brazill. Another officer conducted the subsequent DUI investigation where he obtained consent from Kyleah to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Kyleah scored 14 out of 18 clues of impairment. Then Kyleah consented to provide a breath sample. Her BrAC during the investigation was at 0.186, which is over twice the legal limit.
The officer took photos of the scene and damage to the property, and concluded that the total loss to the Apartment Complex appeared to be in excess of $1,500 given the damages to the property and the suspected cost to repair.
