Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On Friday, June 6, 2025, there was a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in Missoula. Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett said the Missoula Police Department extends their condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in Friday night’s crash.

“We also recognize the emotional toll this incident has had on the driver involved and want to acknowledge that this is a deeply distressing situation for all parties,” Bennett said. “Just before 11:00 p.m. on Friday, patrol officers responded to the area of Reserve Street and American Way for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. An 80-year-old male operating a mobility scooter had been crossing Reserve Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, driven by a 40-year-old female.”

According to Bennett, fire and medical personnel were already on scene attending to the man when officers arrived.

“Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash,” Bennett said. “The location where the man attempted to cross was not a designated crosswalk. The Missoula Police Department’s Detectives Division and an accident investigator are conducting a thorough and timely investigation. At this point in the investigation, there do not appear to be any contributing factors on the part of the female driver.”

Based on the information available at this time, Bennett said charges are not anticipated.
